FEAST OF OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY

Thursday, September 29th, 2005

…is on Oct 1-2, 2005 back in my home in Sampaloc, Manila. I wish I was there…I was told that the people there are holding a reunion to pioneer residents of MA.CRISTINA STREET (between Dapitan and P Margal) so it will be one awesome feast day for them!!! …awww.

Ok…you peeps of SANTISSIMO ROSARIO PARISH (where my church wedding was held), have a happy fiesta and if you can, tell me stories of what have happened on your celebration.

I MISS Y’ALL and I’m dying to come back home!

FEELING FALL

Thursday, September 29th, 2005

Fall has officially started. (Well, calendars actually say that autumn begins Sep22 annually). But here in Bothell, I only get to feel it TODAY. And I like it…the environment is just so gloomy when my hubby, Baby Kate, and I went out today to buy some foods. Back in Pinas, I remember, that was also a time of the year that I usually look forward to…you know, rainy season (& the -ber months too) because I just love the feeling of being cool and stuff.

And besides, sometimes you just get tired of summer and of wearing your skimpiest outfit! …that you start shopping for and/or putting on your sweaters, coats, jackets, scarves, beanies, and your what-have-yous.

94 DAYS ‘TIL X’MAS…

Thursday, September 22nd, 2005

Have you heard of this Jet Blue Airline that had to emergency land at the LA international airport after its nose gear has been twisted in the news yesterday? Man…it is kind of scary to ride airbuses, huh. [Well they also said that airbus planes are reported to have a couple of other problems (while on air!) before. Unlike Boeing, eh].

But then…after the successful land of that grrreat pilot yesterday with his plane, it was a good advertisement for them noh !!!

…need I say more??? Just …Advance Merry X’mas, everybody !!! =)

IN THE BEGINNING (whatever happened to this entry of mine…)

(…accidentally erased, ??.

Supposed Sep1, 2005 Entry)

I’ve been meaning to start my own blog about five months ago, (or I don’t really remember when was it exactly). I even asked pointers from a Friendster friend–Fayep of Assumption College, Rizal, Philippines; and from a close buddy–Iva whom I started to become friends with when we were in our graduate studies at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila/PLM, Philippines. Pointers which they bother to share with me because I find their blogs so original and I wanted mine customized like theirs…you know, with all their own blog skin, blinking and special cursors, moving footnotes, and all that.

Now I finally decided to build my own blog, even if I am going to use the “generic designs” that Friendster has provided for its users.

I just find blogs interesting. As most of my friends know, my life is an open book. I enjoy letting my people know what’s new with me. I have this pleasure of posting my ever-treasured pictures. And I also appreciate the fact that some people would care enough to read my entries and put in their comments.

Oh well..just feel free to holler back on my entries, aight. I will be more than happy to read them and share them with everybody as well.

M O I

Monday, September 19th, 2005

I was born & raised in Manila, Philippines until on my twenty seventh year, I had to migrate to the US to be with my husband-VILLY JAY. I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl KATRINA YSABEL on May 9, 2005 here in Washington , US. It was an emergency C Section for 7.5pounder and 20inches long Baby Kate.

My last profession was a Process Management Analyst & I didn’t had an idea how I landed on that profession as I finished Bachelor Of MassComm in Pamantasan Lungsod Ng Maynila & has earned units for MA in CommunicationManagement (also in d same State U).

I was a working student & a scholar in college, a cheerleader, was playing 2-time then (hehe), & would walk around campus carrying this backpack w/c a classmate regard as “a bag full of goodies” since t’was always full of stuff I’d munch in class discussions.

In Grad Sch, well, I never imagined I’d b elected as PRO for StudentCouncil, but I sure had fun…yknow, meeting new peeps, gaining more knowledge, (still) roaming around the campus BUT w/ my mini skirts on this time (minus d backpack, ok), & stuff. When I entered GradSch, I was determined that I’m not really finishing it as I don’t have plans of writing my thesis..& that was just what happened.

Then I got married (in the church Dec3,04). A few days after my church wedding, I headed on here in the US to be with VJ, leaving my folks & my only Bro~ARNIEL in our hometown. It was tough, having to leave them for the first time. But hey, that’s life. That’s love.

Excess: My Dad would like 2 name me Sheila when I was still in my Mom’s tummy but he just forgot about it when I was born! Well, that’s all good b/c I jus loove my name now.

ONE OF THOSE LUCKY DAYS…

Monday, September 19th, 2005

(Supposed Sep17 Entry)

My Baby Kate is recovering well. It’s her third day after her surgery. She’s eating well and she’d take her medicines without being very fussy. Her face is still a bit swollen though. But all in all, she’s a-OK.

…I’ve been meaning to shop for these puffy jackets since fall is just around the corner. I just couldn’t find the right ones that would fit on me perfectly (and not to mention, at affordable prices). I’ve been scouting via phone on nearby shops and boutiques, and visiting websites as well just trying my luck on finding those perfect outwears for me. But just this afternoon, my search is then over. I purchased two slammin’ puffy jackets with fur around its hood. Actually, Kashiera of Wet Seal in Alderwood Mall helped me out with my search. That when she found out about the stuff I’ve been looking for, she reserved a couple for me–one in white and one in black, and told me that my items were already waiting for me.

…on the other hand, my husband’s birthday is coming next month, my eyes were wide open whenever I am out in malls searching for that perfect gift for him. And today is indeed one of those lucky days for me as I chanced upon a piped jacket from Gap which was on-sale that I am certain VJ would love wearing.

I spent a couple of hours in the mall this afternoon. It is good thing to have such time by myself to escape from the stress that we have at home. Don’t get me wrong, but of course, I love and care for my daughter to death but we sure all need a little freedom.

And so really, it is one lucky day for me.

P.S. Zac’s (one of VJ’s friends from work) wife is about to give birth tonight to their first born. He just phoned VJ and said that him and Renee are on their way to Evergreen Hospital (where I gave birth to Kate). And I got excited about the news. VJ and I are definitely going to be their son-Trystan’s (my fave boy’s name, huh) first few visitors. Anyways, VJ and Zac wanted our kids to be friends until they’ve both grown.

MY BABY KATE’S SURGERY

Monday, September 19th, 2005

(Supposed Sep16, 2005 Entry)

Good news everybody! My baby girl Katrina’s surgery in repairing her cleft lip and rhinoplasty went very well. My husband-VJ and I are so glad and happy about it.

Children’s Hospital admitted Kate at their Surgery Center around 6:45AM of September 15, 2005. It was a busy day so despite our 6:30AM appointment, Kate was checked in 15 minutes late. Before the procedure started, she had to undergo a couple of testing to see if she is still healthy enough for the operation. They also gave us her hospital things including a cute little hospital gown which we put on her right away.

Kate was so cute with that gown! She also seemed to be very energetic and ready for what she has to go through that day. That the night before the 15th, she had her “dinner” and slept early and peacefully through the night. She woke up at 4:00AM, earlier than me and VJ as we were supposed to be up by 4:30AM.

Her anesthesiologists took her from my arms around 7:45AM. He asked if me and VJ have some things to say to her before they bring her in the operating room. VJ and I both kissed her and told her how much we love her and that God will be with her throughout the surgery. That was it…they took her and by the time they reached the operating room, she started crying. They shut the door then, leaving me and VJ clueless of what to do next in the testing room.

We decided to go to the Church Chapel and said some more prayers for our daughter. I even opened up a bible and see what God would like to tell me at that time, and this was what He has given me:

Zechariah 13: Mourning for the Pierced One

On that day a fountain shall be opened for the house of David

and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity.

…after that, we went to the Family Resource Center and had some coffee. VJ read the papers while I checked on my email, seeing that I had a handful of good response from friends whom I sent a message and requested to pray for my daughter. They were all feel-good messages, which I am sure people like me and my husband would need in these times.

By 9:30AM, we received a message through the pager that the hospital provided, saying we should head back to the Surgery Center. So we hurriedly went back there and the receptionist lead us to an exam room and told us to wait for Kate’s surgeon, Dr. Richard Hopper to come and see us.

We waited for about 45 minutes. Until finally Dr. Hopper arrived, happily informing us that the surgery went very well. Kate was then staying in the recovery room, half-awake, half-asleep. Well, that’s due to the vapor anesthesia they gave her. He also said that she has finished all the Pedialite that they gave her. (She must be starving a lot, considering that her last meal was at 2:30AM).

As instructed by Dr. Hopper, we went back to the receptionist and requested for a room.

At room G3017, we waited for another 30 minutes for Kate to arrive from her recovery room.

Finally, Kate has arrived…

I couldn’t help it but breakdown in VJ‘s arms, seeing her having to go through a lot at her young age and worrying about the pain she will feel in the next few days during her recovery.

VJ and the nurses comforted me as Kate also began crying. One of the nurses offered to bring her in my arms where Kate found it comfortable as I also breastfed her. As usual (Kate being easy to be fed ever since she was born), she drank her breast milk as if she didn’t care about the odd feeling that her “new lip” is bringing her. Well at first, I had to try a couple of attempts for her to latch because her lips were still numb.

That day was indeed a long one for all three of us. Kate would struggle with us and her nurses every time we’d give her her pain medications but all in all, she was doing ok.

I phoned my folks and brother back in Manila the next morning. They were happy and glad as I am when they learned how Kate did well in her surgery. And I in return, also thanked them as I know they have prayed hard for Kate.

By 11:30AM, we were discharged from the hospital. (We also had to wait until she had a bowel movement after her nurse put in her first suppository as she had not done it since Tuesday, Sep13). With these nursing discharge summary from Kate’s doctors and nurses, we felt more proud of her:

Patient admitted to surgical unit after repair of cleft lip and rhinoplasty.

Patient received IV fluid and advanced to a regular diet. Patient received

Tylenol with Codiene and Ketorlac for pain control voiding without

difficulty.

I know that a lot of my family and friends have prayed and hoped for Kate’s safe surgery, reason why I am writing this. I would just like to thank everybody who took their time despite their busy lives in praying for my Baby Kate and who shared comforting messages to me and VJ.

I promise to regularly share pictures of Kate so we all could witness how lovelier she will be as she grows up.

IT HAS TO BE A LONG WAIT…

Thursday, September 15th, 2005

Well its Sep15.  Its my Baby Kate’s surgery.  I and VJ are here in Children’s Hospital’s Family Resource Center, waiting until Kate’s surgery is over.  And i tell you, THIS IS A LOOONG WAIT for the two of us.  Her surgeon, Dr.Hopper and the resident doctor said it’ll take about 2 1/2-3hours…but it seems like forever…

Anyways, tnx to all those who prayed and hollered back at me for my Baby.  You guys, never fail me.  And I am thankful for that.

Til then…i have to give way for this blonde, (i think she wants to use the Net & besides, she is so annoying, speaking with her loud voice over her cell).

Of Drew Barrymore’s Fever Pitch, My 1st Mariners Game, & My Mom’s Necklace

Wednesday, September 14th, 2005

My hubby, VJ bought Fever Pitch in DVD last night. I was a bit surprised when I saw it in the shopping bag, I totally have forgotten that I told him to get me a copy of that flick in dvd once its out in the market. I watched it (again, as I’ve seen it in big screen) this morning and boy, it really is an awesome movie!

VJ is a big baseball fan. But he isn’t that “obsessed” like J.Fallon in the movie. But its cute that I thought, while watching, that I used to just imagine my husband being in Seattle Mariners’ ballgames and him playing endlessly his baseball videogames if not via his Xbox, eh with his PS2. Now that we two are together here in Washington, I remember my first Mariners’ game…

…the season has just started and I was 9 months pregnant with Baby Kate. Having to mention (AGAIN), that VJ is a big M’s fan, he made sure that we saw them play in one of their first few games. I remember, we rushed to Safeco Field just to make it because we sort of ran late with the (1st) baby shower that I had (thrown by his staff). Oh well…

Now, I can probably tell that I myself, is getting to be a fan of baseball. That when I heard that the Yankees were playing in our state, I told VJ that I wanted to see them. Not that I am a fan of the NYY but its just this eagerness to witness if they really are that good. Anyways…

Tomorrow, Sep15 at 6:30am is my Baby Kate’s surgery. And since I am missing my family back in Pinas and since that I am wishing that my mom’s going to be there for me during the surgery (physically) which I know is soo impossible, I just content myself wearing this valuable necklace that she’s given me before I left them for the US in Dec2004. I know that this necklace is so important to her but she still managed to give it to me however hard I tried to decide against it. I just started wearing this necklace as my everyday essential since my Dad’s Bday-Sep11. And even though , my Mom, Dad, and my Bro are miles away apart from me and my Baby Kate, I am certain that they are still with us in spirit. Gee…I just misssss them so much.

Ok then, I gotta park. I have to hit the sheets early for tomorrow is going to be a long day for me and my family. Pls pray for Kate’s safe surgery and fast recovery. Thanks…ta-ta…

PS: HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY NANAY-YOLANDA ASUNCION-PALOMO ON SEP16. I MISS YOU, AND DAD, AND ARNIEL. AND I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH.
