THEY MADE MY DAY!

(October 31, 2006)

Yesterday, I got two of the most nicest compliments I have had in weeks. One was from a friend who I have met a month ago and who has been “busy” juggling work and school so we cannot have our regular phone convoy nowadays. But yesterday was a pretty different day for him. You see, a couple weeks ago he was kind of anxious about this big Tuesday exam day in school but when he called me yesterday and said that the exam result just went out. And I was like, yea how was it!? I know you aced it but yea…and he did! Really. Flattering part was that when he said YES I DID GOOD WITH THE EXAM B/C YOU’RE AN INSPIRATION TO ME!

Gee. I’m glad to know that I could play that big of a role (even for just a day, perhaps) to someone who I just met. Well I could say that I’m lucky because he’s one of the few good friends I have since I got here in the US. I can pretty much talk to him about anything. Don’t get me wrong, I of course, still would choose my hubby to talk about anything at the end of each day but you know how different it is when you have an adult friend. So maybe when he said that I’m his inspiration, it could be because of what I told him of what I was able to accomplish while I was still studying and having a parttime job at the same time, and this hunger I always have for learning and going to classes/school. Or maybe there’s an even more reason why I am his inspiration… Anyways.

Second compliment was given at the latter part of the day. It was so unexpected, like the first one. I could not pretty much give details about it but here’s what he basically just said: HEY, YOU LOOK DIFFERENT TODAY. DID YOU DO SOMETHING NEW TO YOUR HAIR? I was like: No, I just pulled it back loosely. And he said: OH YEA. BUT IT SURE LOOKS GOOD.

I know I made a big fuss out of that when in fact, I should have not but I have been grouchy and feeling unpretty for a couple days so I really needed that one. And besides….never mind. (lol).

So I guess that’s it. I hope you’ll have that kind of day today when you get pretty little good surprises from people you know, or don’t even know…now that’s better. (lol).

Excess: And here’s one of the very many songs that I love from The Gap’s Oct2006 CD. Oh correction…I’m sooo in love with the song ok! Paolo Nutini’s LAST REQUEST…

Slow down, Lie down,
Remember it’s just you and me.
Don’t sell out, bow out,
Remember how this used to be.

I just want you closer,
Is that alright?
Baby let’s get closer tonight

(chorus:)
Grant my last request,
And just let me hold you.
Don’t shrug your shoulders,
Lay down beside me.
Sure I can accept that we’re going nowhere,
But one last time just go there,
Lay down beside me

Oh, I’ve found, that I’m bound
To wander down that one way road.
And I realise all about your lies
But I’m no wiser than the fool I was before.

I just want you closer,
Is that alright?
Baby let’s get closer tonight

Oh, baby, baby, baby,
Tell me how can, how can this be wrong?

Yeah, lay down beside me.

One last time let’s go there,
Lay down beside me

TO WIN HER BACK…(…use these lines. Or parts of it. Haha.)

(October 31, 2006)

THE BREAK UP is not a bad film but it is not a personal favorite of mine. It sure is worth watching for for the sake of yes-I-have-seen-that-film if you’re into romantic comedy. And here’s a part of Vince Vaughn’s line when he was trying to win Jennifer Aniston back. The scene where he said this line is somewhat touching for me that I couldn’t help but just go blog it! Well…

"Don’t say anything. I…could I talk to you in private for a second? No, no, I don’t have anything going on. This is actually for you. Brooke, this whole thing has been really tough on me and I’ve tried to act like it hasn’t been that tough on me but the first Sunday after you and me broke up, it all kind of really hit me. And I think it partially hit me because Sunday was sort of always our day that we would do stuff together. But I didn’t have any idea you still cared so much. And, you know, whhen I saw you crying the other night, that was honestly the worst moment of my life. Let me just try to say some of these things here. It’s just…look, I know that I’ve caused you a lot of pain and the funny thing is, all I really want to do is make you happy. I just want to make you smile. Now, I’ve had a lot of time to think about some of the things that went on, and I know, Brooke, that I don’t always do the right thing or always say the right things, but I am willing to try to do things differently. And I’d be happy to go take a dance class. Well, I would. Honestly. I would like to go do that. Or go travel. I mean, I’d even be willing to go to the ballet. Although I would much rather do the dance class or take a trip somewhere. But I realize that’s not the point. I realize that the point isn’t that at all, because its not really about doing things that you love to do always, but it is about doing thing with the person that you love. And I love you. Just give me one second here. I’ve missed you so much. I promise you, Brooke, I will do whatever it is that I have to do to never hurt you again. I love you and I’m sorry."

…Awww! Wasn’t that sweet!?!

SOUTHBORDER IN SWEET SEATTLE

(October 8, 2006)

Southborder is a very popular band back in my homeland. The band has a vital role in my lovelife. I met my hubby through their website. But that my friends, is a different story. (See MY HAPPY EVER AFTER, August 30, 2006 blog entry for more of my love story with VJ).

I’ve been a fan of SB since ‘94. I have all of their cds and most of them have been autographed by the band members. I watched 4 out of maybe, 5 of their major concerts. And I’ve been to a lot of their gigs–whether in bars or university tours back in the Philippines.

Last night, they had a concert here in Seattle. I made sure I didn’t miss it because it’s been so long since I have last seen them perform live. I even went to their autograph signing session before the concert. And here are a few snaps! Well, I hope you enjoy checking them out although you may not know them at all. …wink, wink.

Hubby with Ric (of saxophone, yea!). They’re now best friends. Heehee.

With Vince, 1 of the 2 lead vocals. I didn’t know he’s that gorgeous and yummy! Gee!
