(November 29, 2006)

* The Hubby bought me Grey’s Anatomy 1st Season in DVD during the day after Thanksgiving sale. I have just finished watching it. Now I know why people are going ga-ga over Grey’s Anatomy. It really is a great TV series. I don’t need to elaborate on it because I don’t want this blog entry of mine to sound like a review. But it is rather fantastic to learn some things in the medical field and how life is inside the hospital. Plus I love it more because the setting is here in the Emerald City. The feeling is good when you see familiar places in shows/movies that you watch. Just like 10 Things I Hate About You and A Guy Thing. Both are flicks of Julia Stiles and both took place at some cities here in Washington.

* It now is snowing here in Washington State. It is kind of weird because ever since I got here from the Philippines, it has not snowed this hard and this early. I remember my first two winters here (in 2004 & 2005), it only snowed for a couple days. So when I got out of the house on Sunday, November 26 to go to work, I was so elated that it was snowing! I LIKE SNOW. Just like Richard, a friend from Manila who used to work in Japan. I have to agree with him that it feels like magic when its snowing! And there’s Tavis, who i work with and ikes Christmas because of snow. Now those two people are the first ones in my mind every time I go out of the house and it’s snowing.

* I finally had the chance to go sledding today! I was at first worried about how to control my speed and how to stop but I figured it out, anyways. And when I did, I had Katrina rode with me. She had fun. I could tell. She’d scream with me and laugh with me every time we go sledding down the hill just right in front of our place. Now I could say that sledding is really a blast! Something to look forward to when its snowing. (I know some folks find it annoying every time it snows. But yea…).

* Due to the weather right now, businesses here are closing earlier than usual. Like the malls, for example. We have been closing early since Monday night. I worked on Monday, November 27 from 5:00PM and supposedly until 10:00PM but since it was pretty dead and quiet, the mall management of Alderwood Mall decided to shut down the establishment at 7:00PM. And today, I’m suppose to work at 6:00-11:00PM but the mall closed at 4:00PM so I had the chance to stay home and spend quality time with my family. Well it is both good and bad that my work hours were cut down.

* I saw Gap’s new TV advertisement. The one that has Thalib Kwelli rapping and the one that features GAP IN YOUR HOOD. I feel proud about the advertisement because I know I am part of the Gap, Inc. Family. PEACE LOVE GAP…aight.

* I feel special too. A friend of mine who I recently touched base with again after a couple of weeks of no communication has invited me to join him at the US Navy Gala in January 2007. I know I could not come with him but the thought of being invited to that makes me feel good.

PRETTY RANDOM THINGS ABOUT THE TURKEY DAY

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

tomorrow is that biggest sale of the year event. and in our store-The Gap, we (now) call it RED Friday. well it used to be Black Friday. It is called such b/c it’s the busiest day of the year for us working in the store.

i worked last nite from 7pm til 12midnite. it was pretty much doing repleshning/stocking for the whole of my shift as our store is looking forward for all those eager shoppers. and all the other people who worked last nite til midnite also see to it that we are so ready for RED Friday.

for the special sale event, Gap Stores are giving 30% discount to shoppers who are spending $50 above from 6am til 12noon tomorrow. so be sure to hit the mall early.

on the other hand, i kinda have this little tradition also of going to the mall for those big sales happening the day after thanksgiving. so as a mall rat myself, i will be at alderwood mall tomorrow as early as 5am. =)

i do work tomorrow too, at 5pm til 12midnite. right now i’m just staying home, getting all the rest that i could for that big day. but yes, my brother in-law-niko wants to see a film a little later so we’ll probably go then.

likewise, i have just downloaded ADEM’s Launch Yourself. its a pretty awesome song from Gap’s November CD. there are in fact, a few more songs that i’d love to download (legally) from that CD. but the MODs have not put up the playlist for the November CD yet so i still don’t have idea as to what the title of those songs that i like are.

so there. i hope youre having a pretty happy turkey day! til next year…

PS> i still have some leftover Gap Family & Friends Day invite. if you still want one, let me know. PEACE LOVE GAP…

November 19, 2006

I was killing time one early Sunday night this month, waiting for that time when I will leave for our company’s Holiday Meeting and potluck. I decided to listen to some Christmas songs. Browsing through my iPOD, I remember Siakol has a very good and very Filipino Christmas CD!

SIAKOL is a rock band from the Philippines. Actually, the lead vocalist of the said band is a paternal cousin of mine. NOEL PALOMO composes all of their songs for the band and they already have five albums. He is quite close to my Dad and mykidbro.

Going back to Siakol’s Christmas songs. As I was listening to each of the band’s song, I could not help but get teary-eyed. It is because I remember and miss my DAD. He often plays the band’s Cds and would sing along with the songs even when I was still living with him and my MOM. I really, really miss my parents especially that the Holidays is just around the corner.

I may not be coming home to the Philippines this Christmas unlike what was originally planned a few months ago but one thing is certain: my folks and mykidbro will always, always be close to my heart whether it is Christmas or not.

And Christmas here in Washington may not be the same as Christmas in the Philippines, but I will always, always keep my Christmases in the Philippines special in my thoughts.

Advance Merry Christmas, everybody…

Hiling - Karoling

Titik at musika ni Noel Palomo

Kahit ang araw mapundi man

Kahit may gagawin ika’y uunahin
