HIS FIGHT FOR CF INSPIRES ME…
Here’s a blog entry of my coworker friend Michael Davis. Mykee as we fondly call him at work is a jolly person. Nobody would think that he has a disease. He’s very active and friendly and has passion for everything that he does. I admire him in so many ways. I remember the first day I met and got to work with him. It was a Sunday sometime in November 2006 and I thought that he really is a good and sincere guy.
As of press time, Mykee or my Shoti [(a Chinese term for younger brother), I’m his Ate - Filipino term for older sis] is in Children’s Hospital in Seattle for a week of medication. He has to come to that hospital every now and then for his treatment. Visiting hospitals regularly is no joke not just for a kid like him because it means, he has to miss school and work both at the same time…on a regular basis.
That’s why I am reposting his blog entry. I never thought that someone as young and as positive thinking as he is could accept whatever situation he is in right now. I hope that this will also inspire you even in the littlest of ways because Mykee and I believe that happiness is a decision and that we want it to be contagious! So, be happy and contented with what you have (be it your studies, your job, your family, etc) and learn to treasure them as well! Carpe Diem! (Seize the day!).

Cystic Fibrosis Some people know that I have CF, but I decided to write this just to explain to people exactly what it IS. So what IS Cystic Fibrosis? Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disease in which inflicts the body’s pancrease, reproductive systems, but mostly the person’s lungs. Symptoms that most CF patients have include things like….increased mucus in air ways, poor growth, sinus infetions, infertility, and a whole lot of other stuff…. I am one of the few people who have the disease. At times I get so sick, that I can no longer care for myself…something else is needed. So just about every 2 months, I go to the hospital to administer antibiotics. I take all my meds, try to stay happy and all…it’s not that much of a burden, mainly because I don’t really know of any other way to live There’s a bunch of variations of CF. For example, not every CF person is the same….we all have differnt problems. Some are incredibly healthy…however some die very fast from the disease. I want you to meet my beautiful friends. My heroes. |
These two amazing people fell victim to CF. I knew them for about 5 years each….they were absolutely amazing…and inspire me so much today.
But like I said, I’m a very happy person. I’m fine with having the disease. I’m not angry any more (I used to be)….instead i’ve figured out that you have to make the best out of the situation….no MATTER the situation. There are so many better things that I could be doing with my time rather than moping around, and being angry for this curse….however, its okay….because I’m fine with it.
